The Practice is committed to treating patients and their representatives with courtesy and respect. We expect the same standard of behaviour in return when dealing with members of the practice team.
The NHS operates a zero tolerance approach towards violence, aggression, and abuse. We will not accept behaviour that causes fear, distress, or risk to the safety of our staff, patients, or visitors.
Violence or abuse may include:
Physical assault or threats of violence
Verbal abuse, harassment, or intimidation
Where such behaviour occurs, the Practice will take appropriate action to protect staff and patients. This may include:
Warning the individual about their behaviour
Involving the Police where appropriate
Requesting removal of the patient from the Practice list in line with NHS Scotland and Health Board guidance
Where removal from the Practice list is necessary, this will be documented and the patient will be notified in writing. Information will be recorded in the medical record in accordance with professional and legal requirements.
This policy is in place to ensure a safe environment for everyone using and working within the Practice.
